So 'cross has ended and we are in the middle of that "off season" where everyone talks about taking it easy but then heads out to do 6 hour rides in 20 degrees. And to be quite honest I love this time of year almost as much as I love 'cross season. No one is freaking out about peaking for this race or that. People aren't pouring over their power tap wattage trying to crank out 100 more watts. And best of all people are drinking real beer. Case in point I've been drinking Left Hand's "Fade To Black" stout. It easily gets me drunk in one beer. That's right, one beer.
Almost as good as dark porters and stouts is that I've been going out and doing these long "I'm not really training right now but I'm going out for 100 mile of climbing..." rides and I'm loving it. Spirits seem to be much higher this year as do abilities, mine included. Who could ask for anything more?
